What is the Phlebotomy Learnership About?
The Phlebotomy Technician Learnership offers both theoretical and practical training. You will be trained to draw blood and handle body specimens with skill and care. The programme starts in 2026 and combines real-world lab exposure with academic knowledge at PathCare Academy campuses.
Practical training will be hosted at PathCare Laboratories and depots across South Africa, based on seat availability.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To be considered, you must meet the following academic and personal criteria:
- NSC Grade 12 certificate with:
- Life Sciences/Biology ≥ 50% or HBM ≥ 60%
- Mathematics ≥ 40% or Mathematical Literacy ≥ 60%
- Fluent in English (read, write, and speak)
- Understand basic Afrikaans
- Be prepared to collect/process blood and body samples
- Willingness to work shifts and after hours
- Strong work ethic and customer responsiveness
- Ability to handle pressure and commit to rigorous studies
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently
Note: Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements will not be considered.
