Minimum Entry Requirements
To be considered for this mining learnership programme, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Grade 10 or higher with Mathematics, Science, and English
- Must be physically fit and able to pass a Certificate of Fitness
- Comfortable working at heights and around large machinery
- Willing to be trained on multiple underground machines
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to work under pressure in a production-focused environment
Advantageous (Not Mandatory):
- Valid K53 driver’s license
- Previous mining or underground machinery experience
Responsibilities of a Community Learner (OMM UG)
As a learner in this programme, you’ll gain real industry exposure while contributing to the day-to-day operations at Khutala Colliery.
You’ll be expected to:
- Operate underground mining machinery under supervision
- Maintain strict housekeeping and safety standards
- Assist in performing basic inspections and reporting faults
- Attend all relevant training and assessment sessions
