Purpose of the Role
The Logistics Management Trainee role is designed to immerse you in all aspects of logistics operations across seven distribution centres and the retail supply chain. You will actively contribute to daily operations, process improvement, and logistics projects. This role is ideal for someone who loves challenges, enjoys problem-solving, and is willing to travel and learn on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Process Mapping & Standardisation
Document and visually map logistics processes across all distribution centres to ensure consistency.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
Prepare weekly and monthly logistics reports. Track KPIs such as OTIF, picking accuracy, and truck turnaround times to support decision-making.
Compliance & Auditing
Conduct on-site audits to ensure adherence to SOPs in receiving, dispatch, and inventory management. Follow up on corrective actions with regional teams.
On-Site Learning & Engagement
Travel regularly to DCs and retail stores. Build strong relationships with logistics teams and observe operations first-hand.
Training Support
Assist in planning and facilitating logistics training sessions. Prepare materials, coordinate attendance, and track feedback.
Safety & Compliance
Support organisational health, food safety, and cold chain initiatives. Participate in audits and toolbox talks during site visits.
Inventory & Transport Support
Assist with inventory control and transport tasks when required, helping optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
Customer Service & Collaboration
Work closely with sales, retail, and procurement teams to resolve pain points and improve customer experience.
Cost Containment & Efficiency
Identify opportunities to cut waste and implement cost-saving initiatives that enhance logistics performance.
Team Culture
Promote Econofoods’ vibrant culture by participating in events, recognition programs, and employee engagement activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
- 2–3 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain operations
- Experience with chilled, frozen, and ambient products is an advantage
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic reporting tools
- Willingness to travel between sites
- Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure
