Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and security? Addo Elephant National Park is offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated APU Gate Guard to join their team. This position plays a vital role in protecting the park, assisting visitors, and ensuring smooth operations at the entrance gate.
Job Location
The position is based at Addo Elephant National Park, one of South Africa’s most iconic nature reserves, home to the famous Big Five and breathtaking landscapes.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Standard 10 certificate (minimum qualification).
- Successful completion of the Ranger Fitness Selection Program.
- Accredited Basic Field Ranger Training (advantageous).
- Relevant conservation or security experience (advantageous).
- Working knowledge of conservation legislation.
- Willingness to undergo a medical examination as part of recruitment.
Key Responsibilities
As an APU Gate Guard, you will:
- Perform law enforcement duties, including access control and secure workspace monitoring.
- Provide detailed information to park visitors.
- Resolve minor conflicts at the entrance gate.
- Prevent unauthorized removal of park property.
- Guard and operate the park’s entrance gate.
- Check credentials before granting access to employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Control vehicle and foot traffic entering and exiting the park.
- Direct guests to various park locations.
- Record arrivals and departures accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness around the gate area by mowing lawns and sweeping.
Employment Details
- Salary: R156 003.08 – R205 733.42 per annum.
- Paterson Grade: B1.
- Accommodation: Official accommodation is provided inside the park. It is a requirement to live within the park.
- Equity: Appointment will be made in line with the EE Plan targets.
