Technical Insight: High Court Security Operations
Security at the High Court involves high-profile cases and complex crowd dynamics.
- Biometric Data Management: You will be responsible for capturing and deleting biometric data for personnel, ensuring only authorized staff can access restricted chambers.
- Tactical Coordination: Attending meetings with SAPS, EMS, and the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) during high-profile legal proceedings.
- Surveillance Analysis: Reviewing CCTV footage specifically to save and archive incident data for potential legal or disciplinary use.
- National Security Liaison: Accompanying the Bomb Squad during building “sweeps” before the start of court terms or the arrival of VIPs.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for this role within the Judiciary, you must meet these criteria:
- Education: Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- Registration: Basic Security Officer’s course registered with PSIRA.
- Experience: A minimum of one year in the security industry.
- Advantage: A valid Driver’s license is highly recommended.
- Assessment: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a pre-entry practical exercise to test technical suitability.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervision: Monitor outsourced security officials to ensure they meet daily performance standards.
- Access Control: Maintain strict protocols for everyone entering the building; ensure no unauthorized cameras or liquor enter.
- Emergency Response: Apply procedures for bomb scares or riots and alert emergency services immediately.
- Asset Protection: Ensure no Court property leaves the building without written authorization.
- Reporting: Maintain the Occurrence Book (OB) and provide daily reports to the relevant authorities.
