Key Performance Areas & Daily Duties

The designated officer will perform physical risk mitigation and specialized asset protection protocols across the mining area:

  • Tactical Patrols & Incident Response: Executing comprehensive preventative patrols across all high-risk mine perimeters, infrastructure grids, and stock yards on foot or via specialized security utility vehicles; responding rapidly to alarms and breaches.
  • Access Control & Escorting: Managing strict, authorized entry checkpoints across all company property barriers, verifying credentials, and escorting authorized visitors or high-profile contractors across active mine nodes.
  • Emergency Asset Inspection: Performing scheduled safety inspections on crowd-control tactical equipment, perimeter sensors, fire prevention setups, and industrial action response vehicles to guarantee operational readiness.
  • Forensic Assistance: Acting as the first responder to active crime scenes or security irregularities on company grounds, ensuring proper scene preservation, initial documentation, preliminary investigations, and evidence gathering.
  • SHE Compliance Enforcement: Rigidly upholding Exxaro’s internal Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies, maintaining an absolute safety-first culture, and utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
